Laughter

by Deborah Hollins

I wandered lonely as a cloud,
A big, black, bloody cloud
Following me everywhere I go.
Suffocating me with every shower
It decides to thrown down at me
But … one day!!!

I'll no longer be small, paranoid and insignificant.
I'll grow - push my head up
Through the leaves and trees.
Cats will no longer piss on me
Like a centuries old thing.
I'll be someone, someone of importance,
Someone with high self-esteem,
Someone free of illness.
Voices - you think you're clever - perhaps you are.

But there will come a time - sometime soon
When I can laugh at you and all the baggage
That comes with you.
Let me laugh … I need to …
It's about bloody time, isn't it?

"Time is a crack in eternity."
