What's the Matter with Baby Jane? by Sophie Barnes
"What is the matter with Mary Jane?
She's crying with all her might and main
And she won't eat her dinner - rice pudding again.
What is the matter with Mary Jane?"
Look at me nurse, what do your eyes see?
You can read your scribbled notes, but that's not me
A twenty something girl with chopped off hair
"Attention seeking"
Throws her locker drawer in the air
"Manipulative"
Sits for hours in a trance or crying
"Hysterical"
Tells us about her fears of dying
"Dramatic"
Talks to her food, smashes her plate
"Inappropriate"
Throws up everything she ate
"Destructive"
Often screams and shouts abuse
"Selfish"
Claims that her body's for others' use
"Deluded
Use your words to judge, your eyes to observe
If you had my head, my thoughts would be heard.
