Changing Minds
During 2001, Borderland Voices collected opinions and hopes
for the future from past and present users of the mental
health services in North Staffordshire at the time of the
closure of St. Edward's Hospital, Cheddleton, Staffordshire.
The spoken word was accompanied by archive material, music and
photography, together with artwork produced in Borderland
Voices workshops.
The video was commissioned and funded by North Staffordshire
Health Authority and was first shown on World Mental Health
Day, October 2001, at the City Museum and Art Gallery in
Stoke-on-Trent at the launch of Well-being Document, which was
produced by the Directorate of Health Promotion in North
Staffordshire.
Since then it has been seen at various venues including the
Acute Care Conference at the Moat House in Stoke-on-Trent in
May 2003 where it was well received.
